Calculator in charge of Clockers' Corner S.
Sunday, January 28, 2018
Calculator remained perfect on Santa Anita Park's downhill turf course with a one-length win in the Clockers' Corner S. on Jan. 28.

Prior to Sunday's win, the 6-year-old son of In Summation had won a pair of allowance races over the same surface. Though this was his first stakes win since taking the Sham S. (G3) at three, Calculator has placed in several graded stakes, including the Carter H. (G1) and Churchill Downs S. (G2).

Sunday's win upped his record to 5-5-4 in 20 starts, with earnings of $642,560 for his owner Richard Pell.

Calculator led all the way through the six and one-half furlongs, getting the distance in a swift 1:12.08 on the firm turf.

“Flavien's (jockey Flavien Prat) a great rider, but he didn't follow instructions at all,” joked Pell. “We thought the one (Fly to Mars, with Evin Roman) would go and we'd track him, but it didn't work out that way.”

Calculator, who is In Summation's all-time leading earner, could be headed for graded stakes company once again in his next start, according to trainer Peter Miller's assistant Ruben Alvarado. “He's more mature now and we're looking for big year with him.”
