Fellowship, the multiple graded stakes-placed son of Awesome of Course, drew post 10 in Saturday's $1.5 million Preakness S. (G1) at Pimlico.

The Jacks or Better homebred colt has 12 starts to date, making him one of the most seasoned runners in the second leg of the Triple Crown.

Fellowship will be ridden by Jose Lezcano, who was aboard the chestnut Florida-bred for third-place finishes in both the Fountain of Youth S. (G2) and Florida Derby (G1).

“We find that his horse has a really good cruising speed, so I think, ideally, you just don’t mess with him – just let what happens in the race happen and let him come with his run when it’s time,” assistant trainer Norm Casse said. “It’s certainly nice to know there’s going to be speed for him to run at, but we’re not going to take him back and take him out of his game because we think there’s going to be a ton of speed that’s going to collapse. We’ll just let him be who he is.”

Competing exclusively in stakes since his debut maiden special weight victory, Fellowship has racked up $574,715, including a win in the $500,000 In Reality S.

In addition to Fellowship, Awesome of Course is the sire of 2016 stakes winners Awesome Banner and Swift Lady and ranks in the top five on the Florida General Sire list.
