Sunday, February 11, 2024

Stone Silent collected her second stakes win in as many starts with a handy victory in Sunday’s $115,000 Ladies’ Turf Sprint S. at Gulfstream Park.

Coming into Sunday’s five-furlong race off a Dec. 31 win over the same course and distance in the Abundantia S., Stone Silent broke sharply from her inside post and chased Fulminate through a swift quarter-mile in :20.96. Stone Silent shifted to the outside on the turn and rolled by Fulminate as she came into the stretch. She kicked clear in mid-stretch and won going away by 2 ¼-lengths.

“I was a little concerned about the one hole today, but she certainly seemed to overcome that,” said trainer Brian Lynch. “It seems like she’s trying to get good, and it’s a nice time a year for a filly trying to get good.”

With her win 2022 win in the Debutante S. at Santa Anita Park, 4-year-old Stone Silent now has three stakes victories and earnings of $290,838 for owner Victoriam Farm LLC, who purchased her for $170,000 at the 2023 Keeneland November sale.

Stone Silent is out of seven-time stakes winner Travelator and was bred in Florida by William Terrell and Frank De Savino.

A perennial leading sire in Florida, Adios Charlie is currently second on the 2024 Florida Sire list. He is standing the 2024 season for $3,000 S&N.
