Ocala Stud’s Concorde’s Tune was represented with his third stakes winner of the year when Hold On Smokey drew clear to a decisive three-length win in the $50,000 Robert M. O’Malley Stakes at Suffolk Downs on Sept. 20th.

In his first start on turf, the speedy 3-year-old colt proved to relish the surface, as he led every step of the way before hitting the wire all alone in a crisp 58.25 for five furlongs over a firm course. It marked Hold On Smokey’s fifth win from his last six starts, giving the fast-rising chestnut six wins and three runner-ups from 13 lifetime starts. The O’Malley was his first stakes triumph.

Bred in Florida by Great Luck Farm, Hold On Smokey moved his career earnings to $112,067 for owner and trainer Donald Kielty.
