R Adios Jersey powers to victory in the Charles Town Oaks (G3) - Coady photography

R Adios Jersey streaked to a front-running, 3 1/4-length victory in Friday night's $400,000 Charles Town Oaks (G3) at Charles Town Races, the first graded stakes win and second stakes overall for the 3-year-old daughter of Adios Charlie.

A picture of perfection thus far in her career, R Adios Jersey has won all five of her starts since her career debut in December of 2020. Her prior four starts all came in Florida, including a win in the $110,000 Sophomore Fillies S. at Tampa Bay Downs.

Sent away at a generous 5-1 despite her unblemished record, R Adios Jersey went right to the gate from the outset. She was up a length on favored Caramel Swirl after a half-mile in :46.27, then began to pull away. Two lengths to the good at the top of the stretch, she increased her margin down the lane to finish the seven furlongs in 1:24.37.

“I sent her and I got her into the race very good,” said winning rider Paco Lopez. “I know the horse and she's very fast. I tried to save her a little bit because the last time I rode her at Tampa, she got a little tired. I wanted to go and try and sit second with her but the owners said I had to send her, and I have to listen to the boss.”

R Adios Jersey is owned by  Averill Racing LLC and ATM Racing and has earned $367,400.

The winner was bred in Florida by Ocala Stud and Mike O'Farrelll and is out of the unraced Montbrook mare Marion Theatre, who has four other foals that have at least three wins a piece.

Adios Charlie is currently Florida's leading sire of 2021 by graded stakes winners and stakes winners and is ranked fourth by progeny earnings with nearly $1.6 million.
