Ocala Stud's dynamic freshman stallion Uncaptured scored his first winner as a sire April 26 at Gulfstream Park when first-time starter Bye Bye J won a $65,000 maiden special weight affair for 2-year-old fillies.

Breaking sharply from post four, Bye Bye J chased Nancysaidso through a quarter-mile in :21.90. The chestnut filly moved up alongside the leader at the head of the stretch, and in a determined drive, edged clear in deep stretch to win by a half-length in :52.44 for the 4 1/2-furlongs on a fast main track.

Bred by McDowell Farm and owned by Monarch Stables, Bye Bye J is one of four winners out of the Awesome Again mare Red Pine, whose dam Undercover was a multiple stakes winner of more than $300,000.

Like Bye Bye J, Uncaptured won his 2-year-old debut and would go on to be named Canada's Horse of the Year at 2, winning five stakes, including the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) and Iroquois S. (G3). At 3, he took the Canadian classic Prince of Wales S. and retired with more than $1 million in earnings.

Uncaptured has been one of the most popular stallions in Florida over the past three years, breeding an average of 128 mares from 2015-17.

Uncaptured currently stands for a fee of $6,000 live foal.
