Turbulent Descent, Musical Romance in Breeders' Cup F&M Sprint
Thursday, March 31, 2011
Turbulent Descent and Musical Romance, a pair of Ocala Stud bred fillies, make a formidable duo in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) on Nov. 4 at Churchill Downs. The seven furlong race will run at 5:30 p.m. as race 7 on the card.

Three-time Grade 1 winner Turbulent Descent figures as one of the favorites in the race open to fillies and mares three and up. The bay 3-year-old filly has collect victories in the Test S. and Santa Anita Oaks, both Grade 1's, this year, as well as a five-length romp in the Grade 2 Beaumont S. at Keeneland in April. Her record stands at an impressive 6-2-0 in eight starts, with earnings of $828,350.

Ocala Stud consigned and sold Turbulent Descent at the 2010 OBS Spring yearling sale, where she brought a winning bid of $160,000 from Blinkers On Racing Stable.

Musical Romance has also been a model of consistency since cutting back to one turn earlier this year. She has not been worse than third in eight starts since April, with four stakes wins, highlighted by a victory in the Grade 2 Presque Isle Downs Masters S. in September. She was also second, beaten just a neck, in the Grade 1 Princess Rooney S. at Calder.

Musical Romance is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner Vuelve Ruben M. and is by Concorde's Tune, who stood at Ocala Stud until his death earlier this year. The dark bay 4-year-old filly was part of Ocala Stud's consignment at the 2009 OBS Spring 2-year-old sale, purchased by her current owner Pinnacle Racing Stable.
