Stone Silent’s connections celebrated New Year’s Eve early when the 3-year-old Adios Charlie filly took the $100,000 Abundantia S. on Sunday afternoon at Gulfstream Park.
Adios Charlie, who has 24 lifetime stakes horses, recently surpassed the $20 million mark in career progeny earnings. His 2024 fee is scheduled to be $3,000 S&N.
Stone Silent was a bit further back than usual early in Sunday’s five-furlong turf sprint, then began to make up ground while three-wide around the turn. He came into the stretch full of run and got the lead just inside the furlong mark, drawing off to win by 1 ¾-lengths in :55.21 on a firm turf course.
Owned by Victoriam Farm LLC, Stone Silent is 3-2-1 in nine starts, including a victory in the 2022 Fasig-Tipton Debutante S. at Santa Anita Park, and has earned $219,698. The bay filly was bred by William Terrell and Frank De Savino.
Stone Silent will be pointed toward upcoming turf-sprint stakes during the Gulfstream Championship Meet, said trainer Brian Lynch.
