Florida-bred Rockin Roller made the first start of his career a winning one at Gulfstream Park on Friday, September 9, drawing clear in the late stages to win by nearly two lengths and become the first winner for Ocala Stud’s Ami's Flatter.
Ridden by Kevin Krigger, Rockin Roller stalked the early pace in third before making a bold four-wide bid for the lead at the quarter pole. He cleared off in the next furlong and came home strongly to win the 6 ½-furlong contest by 1 ¾-lengths.
Owned by Donald Mensh, Rockin Roller was bred by Ocala Stud. His dam Lady Carlotta has produced four winners prior to Rockin Roller, including Coronation Cup winner Broadway Run and stakes-placed Ice Tea. Rockin Roller’s third dam is Alabama S. (G1) Pretty Discreet, who is the dam of Grade 1 winners Discreetly Mine and Discreet Cat.
A Tall Oaks Farm homebred, Ami’s Flatter competed against the best of his generation while winning or placing in six stakes. His Commonwealth S. (G3) win at Keeneland earned him a Beyer Speed Figure of 105, the second time he achieved that lofty number.
Ami’s Flatter stands for $2,500 S&N. For more information, contact David or Joe O’Farrell at (352) 237-2171.
