Prospective No. 1 Florida Freshman Sire at OBS
Saturday, March 25, 2017
Ocala Stud's 2017 first-crop sire Prospective was Florida's leading freshman sire at the March 14-15 OBS Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, with a sales average of $71,667, more than 14 times his bred-on stud fee.

Topping the list was hip No. 352 consigned by Halcyon Hammock Farm and sold to Bill Poston and Partners for $100,000. The bay colt is a half-brother to graded stakes-placed Classic Legacy, out of Astella. The colt is from the same family as Canadian champion Chief Bearheart and Grade 1 winner Explosive Red.

Other highlights for Prospective at the sale included a $65,000 colt consigned by Ocala Stud, hip No. 333, and purchased by Our Sugar Bear Stable. The colt's stakes-placed dam Amazer has produced three winners from four starters. Best A Luck Farm consigned hip No.522, a colt purchased for $50,000 by trainer Peter Miller.

As the 2-year-old sales season continues, Prospective has 16 lots in the upcoming OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training, which is April 25-28, with the Under Tack Show on Monday, April 17.
