A colt from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Noble Bird from the Ocala Stud consignment brought a winning bid of $400,000 Tuesday at the OBS Spring 2-year-old sale.

West Bloodstock, agent for Robert and Lawana Low, was the winning bidder for hip No. 104, who had breezed a quarter-mile in :20 4/5 during last weekend's Under Tack show.

The chestnut colt is scheduled to go to trainer Todd Pletcher.

“To me, he just looked like a big two-turn horse and that is what Mr. and Mrs. Low are looking for,” said Jacob West. “I just told them I loved the horse and they stood behind me.”

“There is a real pedigree underneath him with [MGSW & GISP] C Z Rocket and [MGSW] Giant Expectations . He comes from a very good consignor in Ocala Stud. They raised him on the farm. They know him better than anybody else. They do a great job and they deserve it.”

“We trained the horse for a new client, Herman Wilensky, who is the breeder,” added Ocala Stud's David O'Farrell. “He raised a really good horse and we are fortunate to be train and sell the colt for him.”

Ocala Stud stands Noble Bird for a fee of $4,000 in 2021. Noble Bird was the winner of the 2015 Stephen Foster H. (G1) and two other graded events, for trainer Mark Casse and owner John Oxley.
