Adios Charlie's 3-year-old son Dugout turned in a gritty performance to win the $250,000 Steel Valley Sprint S. Nov. 25 at Mahoning Valley, marking the third stakes win and sixth overall victory in nine lifetime starts for the Larry Rivelli and Richard Ravin homebred.

The duo is partnered with Patricia's Hope on the gray/roan sophomore, who has now banked $476,155. He is a full brother to Jean Elizabeth, winner of last month's Ontario Fashion S. (G3) and four other stakes.

The naturally-speedy Dugout laid just off the pace early in the six-furlong contest, and it wasn't until the final furlong when he edge past Dare Day, then held off a late charge by Manny Wah to win by a neck in 1:11.19.

Dugout is the third stakes winner this year for Adios Charlie, who is Florida's leading sire of 2019 with progeny earnings over $3.3 million. After breeding 117 mares this past season, Adios Charlie will stand for $4,000, stands and nurses, in 2020.
