Birdman Richie the latest winner for Noble Bird
Saturday, October 9, 2021

First-Crop sire got his fifth winner Saturday at Hawthorne when Birdman Richie broke his maiden by nearly a length at 5 ½-furlongs.

Trained by Illinois stalwart Larry Rivelli, Birdman Richie got a pressing trip before launching a three-wide bid in upper stretch. He gained the lead with about a sixteenth to go before edging clear late.

Birdman Richie is owned by Patricia’s Hope LLC and Richard Ravin, the latter also the chestnut’s breeder. He is out of Try to Appeal, who is a half-sister to $1.5 million earner Big City Man.

Noble Bird, who stood for $4,000 this past breeding season, is Florida’s second-leading First-Crop sire by progeny earnings and leads the list by winners and stakes horses.
